Report: Min: Kiev hopes for peaceful Russian debt settlement

MOSCOW, Dec 21 (PRIME) – Ukraine, which has introduced a moratorium on the repayment of a U.S.$# billion Eurobond owned by Russia, will strive for an out-of-court settlement on the debt, Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko told Bloomberg TV in an interview broadcast December 18.

Russian Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak said that Moscow will initiate legal proceedings against Ukraine 10 days after the debt matures on December 20.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recognized this debt as sovereign on December 16. Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that after the IMF ruling Moscow expects new restructuring proposals from Ukraine as opposed to older ones focused on commercial creditors.
